Starting with iOS 18.1, Apple is now allowing users to change their iCloud email address.

In iOS 18.1, Apple will allow users to completely change their iCloud email address for the first time. Previously, you could only create an alias, but you couldn’t change or remove your original iCloud email. Now, users can easily update their primary Apple Account email from the Settings app. Although it was possible to change your primary email before, it required removing other addresses first. With iOS 18.1, you can now update both your Apple Account and iCloud email more easily. Just go to Settings, tap your name, select Sign In & Security, and choose your email address. From there, you'll find a "Change Email Address" button.

Once you update your iCloud email, you will no longer receive emails from your old @iCloud.com or @me.com address, and it won’t work for FaceTime or iMessage. You can still use an alias to get emails if needed. This change is especially useful for anyone who wants to update an old email they no longer like.

Apple Releases iOS 18.0.1: Key Bug Fixes and Security Enhancements You Need to Know

Apple has started rolling out the iOS 18.0.1 update for iPhone users, just three weeks after the launch of iOS 18. This update focuses on fixing important bugs and addressing security issues. Some of the key improvements include:

  • Fixing an issue where the touch screen might become unresponsive on certain iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models.

  • Resolving a problem where the camera would freeze while recording macro mode videos in 4K on iPhone 16 Pro models.

  • Fixing a bug that caused the Messages app to crash when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch face.

  • Addressing a memory allocation issue that could impact performance on some iPhone models.

Additionally, this update brings crucial security patches. For example, it fixes a bug that could allow the capture of a few seconds of audio before the microphone indicator turns on during audio messaging. It also addresses a vulnerability in the Passwords app, where VoiceOver could read saved passwords aloud.

To update your iPhone to iOS 18.0.1, go to Settings > General > Software Update, and follow the prompts to download and install the update.
